Justin S. Anderson, Psy.D., L.P.

Dr. Justin Anderson is highly trained and experienced in the psychological aspects of business, team, family, and individual development. He has over a decade of experience working with businesses, families of wealth, and individuals. Over the years, he has helped countless groups/individuals through complicated transitions and change initiatives.
Dr. Anderson is commonly pulled into complex situations where an understanding of psychology, business, family dynamics, governance, next generation development, and wealth may be at play. He draws on his experience as a licensed psychologist (Minnesota), family business advisor, and professor in both organizational and sport psychology. He has a particular interest in helping businesses, teams, and families achieve long-term goals through deliberate and incisive planning.
Whether you are a business owner looking to find the best possible transition strategy, a family looking to more optimally pass along your values and wealth to the next generation, or an executive/leader looking for a coach to give you some tools to better manage and navigate your organization, Dr. Anderson and his team at JSA Advising, LLC can help.
How Dr. Anderson Works
Dr. Anderson seeks to transform unhealthy patterns into new patterns that work more optimally. Unlike traditional clinical psychologists who focus more on past deficits, Dr. Anderson utilizes a positive, developmental approach. He is committed to building productive, confidential relationships with his clients and will work closely to find (symbiotic) solutions that everyone in the system can agree upon. He does this by addressing key principles that are the fundamental to success of any system. These principles include: awareness, trust, constructive communication, improved perceptions/cognitive focus, acceptance, clear expectations, confidence, and boundary clarification. Through this process, he has helped many businesses and individuals develop higher efficacy, better relationships, and consequently live healthier and more fulfilling lives.
Education and Training
Dr. Anderson has an undergraduate degree in Psychology with a minor in Business from the University of Minnesota, a Master’s degree in Education/Sport Psychology from Boston University, and a Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from the University of St. Thomas (MN). He obtained a pre-doctoral internship at the University of Memphis, and a post-doctoral internship at the University of North Texas. After working with several Division I athletes/teams as a sport and performance psychology consultant, Dr. Anderson was invited to join the Legasus Group, LLC., a family business consulting firm in Kansas. There he worked with many innovative thinkers who are evolving the field of family business transitions. In 2009, Dr. Anderson moved back to his home state of Minnesota and opened his own consulting firm, JSA Advising, LLC. He currently works with businesses and teams with advisors from all over the country to deliver profitable, evidenced-based interventions.
